Credit education and coaching
This is education about how credit reporting works and coaching on the habits behind it. It is not credit repair, it is not a dispute service, and it does not come with any promise about your score. What it does is help you read your own file accurately and understand what actually drives it.
Scope
What this service is, and what it is not
What it is
- Education on how credit reporting and credit scoring work.
- Help reading your own credit report and understanding each section.
- Explanation of which factors carry the most weight and why, in general terms.
- Coaching on financial habits — payment timing, balances relative to limits, and how new applications are recorded.
- Context on how credit intersects with borrowing costs, insurability, and long-term planning.
What it is not
- Not credit repair, and not a dispute-filing service.
- Not a promise, guarantee, or estimate of any score improvement.
- Not a claim that accurate negative information can be removed from your report. It cannot be.
- Not a proprietary method, insider technique, or legal loophole.
- Not legal, tax, or debt-settlement advice.
Why it sits here
How credit affects what you are building
We are an insurance agency. Credit education sits alongside that work for two practical reasons.
It changes what borrowing costs you. The same mortgage, at the same amount, over the same term, costs materially different amounts depending on the rate you are offered. Money spent on interest is money that never reaches the thing you were trying to build. For a family assembling first-generation wealth, that gap compounds over decades.
It can affect insurance itself. In most states, insurers are permitted to use a credit-based insurance score as one factor when underwriting and pricing certain products. The rules differ by state and by line of insurance, and some states limit or prohibit it. It is one factor among several, not a gate.
Understanding your own file is a reasonable thing to want before you apply for anything. That is the whole premise of this service.
Coaching
What we cover together
- Reading your report. What each section contains, who furnished each entry, how long different items remain, and how to tell an error from an accurate entry you dislike.
- The factors that carry weight. Payment history, amounts owed relative to limits, length of history, credit mix, and new applications — in general terms, since the exact models are proprietary.
- Habits. Timing payments to statement dates, keeping balances in proportion to limits, and why closing an old account is not automatically helpful.
- Errors. How to recognize genuinely inaccurate information and how to dispute it yourself, free of charge.
- Planning ahead. What lenders and insurers tend to look at, and how to prepare before a major application rather than after it.
Your rights
What you can do yourself, at no cost
Everything in this section is free, and you do not need us or anyone else to do it for you. We would rather you know it and choose us anyway.
- Get your reports free. You are entitled to free copies of your credit reports from the nationwide credit bureaus at annualcreditreport.com. It is the official source and it does not cost anything.
- Dispute inaccurate information yourself, for free. You may dispute information you believe is inaccurate directly with the credit bureau and with the company that reported it. There is no charge, and you do not need to pay anyone to do it on your behalf.
- Use the CFPB's free guidance. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau publishes step-by-step instructions, sample dispute letters, and a complaint process at consumerfinance.gov.
Accurate negative information cannot be removed by us, by you, or by anyone else. It ages off according to the timeframes set in federal law. Any company that tells you otherwise is misleading you.
Common questions
Questions about credit education & coaching
Is this credit repair?
No. This is education and coaching about how credit reporting works. We do not dispute items on your behalf, we do not promise any change to your score, and we do not claim that accurate negative information can be removed — because it cannot be.
If what you are looking for is someone to remove accurate negative information, no legitimate company can do that, and any company that says otherwise is not being straight with you.
Can you tell me how many points my score will go up?
No, and nobody honestly can. Scoring models are proprietary, they weigh dozens of factors, and the same action affects two people differently depending on everything else in their file.
What we can do is explain which factors carry the most weight, help you read your own report accurately, and talk through what is within your control.
Can I do all of this myself for free?
Yes, and you should know that before you consider paying anyone. You can obtain free copies of your credit reports at annualcreditreport.com, and you can dispute inaccurate information directly with the credit bureaus and with the company that furnished it, at no cost.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau publishes free step-by-step guidance on how to do this. What coaching adds is context and accountability, not access. We would rather you knew that up front.
What does credit have to do with insurance?
In most states, insurers are permitted to use a credit-based insurance score as one factor in underwriting and pricing certain products. The rules vary by state and by line of insurance, and some states restrict or prohibit the practice.
More broadly, credit affects what borrowing costs you, which affects how much you can put toward building and transferring wealth. That is why it sits alongside our insurance work rather than separate from it.
Do you charge for this?
Fees, where they apply, are disclosed in writing before any work begins, and payment is never requested before services have been performed. If a written contract applies, it will state your cancellation rights.
Many of the conversations we have about credit happen as part of a wider planning discussion at no charge. Ask us what applies to your situation and we will tell you plainly.
Coverage is subject to underwriting approval. Guarantees are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing carrier. Product availability, features, and rates vary by state and by carrier.
